TAKING CENTRE STAGE

silvia njoki take the stage cover[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap] love reggae music, and that love goes back many years; but especially since my trip to Jamaica five years ago, where I met some of my favorite stars in this captivating universe of music, and learnt more about the culture, the lifestyle and the philosophy of this genre.

Photography – Charles Ngomo of Royal Reel Photography

And this Saturday was the second time for the absolute top group from Jamaica, Morgan Heritage, to perform in our beautiful
country. I watched them the first time they came here a few years ago and their performance is always captivating to say the least. The huge crowds went wild when they played their most popular hits to the enthusiastic audience. When I eventually had to leave for home around 2:30 am due to other commitments the following morning, they were still going strong on the stage. I posted it all on my snapchat @silvianjoki.

What a great night that was!

A few days before that, I attended a gala at the Norfolk Hotel. And this was my outfit of choice. I love to be unpredictable and to have fun with fashion because to me that’s the beauty in art. A simple combination that is spectacular and bold but mostly very comfortable, and it served me extremely well that night…. But I sure did take centre stage and turned a few heads in this number!

I must say that Charles did a good job with these pictures, which were taken on location at the gorgeous Hotel Rudi, a private villa/guest house, tucked away in the heart of Karen. They have a beautiful lush green garden perfect for private parties, but what really warmed my heart was the kindness of the staff and the very friendly owners Rudi and Ruth. My team and I team truly felt at home…
