[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap] recently came across “The Alchemist” by the Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, which captured my imagination so much that I finished reading it in just a few days. I simply could not put it down.
It is written in a clear and easily understandable language which allows you to consume the text with pleasure and the basic plot is captivating and sometimes even dramatic and keeps you wondering what may happen next. A really good read, in other words.
The beauty of the book is however its deeper meaning, which you discover once you go below the simplistic surface of the story. Coelho calls it “A Fable About Following Your Dream”, and you quickly discover that you have to read behind the actual words to fully appreciate the powerful message which the author is sharing with you through this heartwarming parable. The lesson, which the main character learns through his fairytale like adventures, and which you, the reader, also discover is that you must embrace everything which happens in your life, because step by step your experiences prepare you for something bigger and more meaningful . So pay careful attention to the omens you are given, be prepared for the unexpected and follow your dreams with an open heart.
I would without hesitation recommend this lovely novel to anyone, but maybe particularly to younger people, who are struggling to discover the purpose of their lives. I hope that they, like myself, will be encouraged by the wonderful moral of the story, which is that if you really want something with all your heart, the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
