[su_dropcap style=”simple” size=”1″]M[/su_dropcap]usic has been an important part of my life for many years. My mom is a music teacher, and I have always had music around me growing up.I actually prefer to play music rather than watch tv. Whenever I can, there is music around me. When I work on my blog, editing photos or putting together the words to go with them, I normally have my music playing. Music is my greatest therapy…
My favorite genre of music for the longest time was reggae. But lately, If I hear a certain song and it catches my attention, I find out the name and the artist or group who sings it and add it to my fast growing playlist. And as the patriotic Kenyan girl I am, I enjoy listening to Kenyan music – a lot, to be honest! And it makes me really happy when a new artist or group of singers emerges and in no time makes their way to the big stages and the charts.
So on this beautiful Monday I want to introduce to you a selection of great Kenyan artistes, who I have recently discovered, and who have totally blown me away with their music, lyrics, their talent and overall awesomeness ! their songs are real earworms, which I keep singing to myself over and over again. I wish I could fit them all in this one post, It was tough but I narrowed it down to my current favorites and I would love if you could listen to them, share and subscribe to their channels. Support local music, share the love !
SARABI AFRICA – I have played this song 100 times this past weekend, such a beautiful song and an equally deeper message.
CECE SAGINI –Her voice will give you chills and goosebumps all over!!
KIU – Such amazing voices!!! They are just are incredible. So refreshing to see a talented all-girls group in the Kenyan music scene.
KAGWE MUNGAI – Welcome to lyrical heaven, a twist of English, Swahili and I swear I heard some Kikuyu in there… this song is too too dope!
MAYONDE – So soulful, so beautiful. I’ve been listening to this song while writing my posts. Very calming.
