Have any of you guys watched Desperate Housewives Africa on Ebony Life TV? I just started watching the re-runs and I am sucked in. Which surprises most of my friends, since I don’t watch TV series. I am very impatient in this context and I am driven to simply look up the endings of the shows online rather than spend my time binge watching a bunch of shows.

same script-silvianjoki-lace offshoulder topThis show is a copy of the original Desperate Housewives America, including the basic plot and character descriptions. Something a lot people give it flak for – Same script different cast. A show by African actors in an African context and thereby uniquely our own; a beautiful spin to a story, which we already love and know from the original version. Which is similar to how I came up with this look. Whenever I am browsing online and come across a look I like, I save the images and later try to re-create the look with items I already have in my closet and give it my own spin. This is one such ensemble. Inspired by Beyonce. My secret to ‘copying’ a look is finding two or three aspects of it that I like and giving them my own feel. I loved the off-shoulder vibe and the fact that it was all white.

My point is that it is important to be inspired but also to be innovative and not slavishly copying the overall look but only adopting aspects which gave you the inspiration.
