Today I am celebrating a timeless piece, which every woman should have in her wardrobe. The pencil skirt.
I love pencil skirts and wear them often, since the styling options are endless, they pair well with any top, whether its layered under a double slitted top, or a white number ? or maybe you want to channel your sporty chic? Or hit the party with a daring option like this one or a more conservative one like this one . I just can’t get enough! according to fashion sales data online, it’s the second most sold skirt in the world after the A-Line silhouette. A pencil skirt in classic black can take you from the office to a night out with the girls. And if I can trust the views of my male friends, a little black skirt is always sexy. It’s a trendy and simple fun piece that can be used to multiply your outfits. But my biggest approach to wearing this skirt is to use it to play down an outfit.

Which is how I came to retrieve this particular piece. Whether you look at it as a means of playing down a lovely mullet top – or wish to give the mullet top the credit for bringing my pencil skirt back to its intended level of prominence – this combo was a winner. At least that’s the way I see it.
Perfect for a weekend look I kept it playful – including wearing the hemline slightly higher than I normally would in a more formal or official setting, which is one of the great things about the pencil. I mean, that you can aim for any height above or below your knees, which matches your mood and occassion of the moment. Now, isn’t that true versatility? So whatever update I do of this piece will only be by size and length, because for as long as I can remember, this piece has never left my closet and it probably never will, It has served me extremely well in a wide variety of ensembles. Which is why I think every woman should own one!
How do you like to wear your pencil skirt ?
